Aeration Fan Sizing Calculator
Estimate cooling airflow, drying demand and the likely HA-series fan path using published GRDC rates.
Indicative result
Start with the grain tonnage.
Enter the approximate tonnes in the silo and the tool will show the airflow range, fan pathway and next step.
Indicative guide only, based on published GRDC airflow rates (2-4 L/s/t cooling, 15-25 L/s/t drying). Actual fan selection depends on grain type, bed depth, ducting and backpressure. Confirm with Harvest Rural Hub before purchasing.
Sizing aeration, the basics
Straight answers first, with the product fit, supply path and site details confirmed before quoting.
Send a questionHow much airflow do I need to cool grain?
Aeration cooling typically uses 2-4 litres per second per tonne (L/s/t); drying needs much higher airflow, around 15-25 L/s/t (GRDC). The calculator multiplies your tonnes by these rates for an indicative range.
What size aeration fan suits my silo?
It depends on tonnage and whether you are cooling or drying. The HA-series covers 30-300 t. Final selection also depends on grain depth, ducting and backpressure. Confirm with us before ordering.
Can an aeration fan dry my grain?
Aeration cooling fans are sized for cooling (2-4 L/s/t), not drying (15-25 L/s/t). Drying usually means a staged approach or higher-airflow setup. Talk to us before purchasing.
